BIOGRAPHY

Clare Thorp holds a degree in agricultural science, a doctorate in animal science (ruminant nutrition and metabolism), and a master’s degree in economics and public policy. Clare has over 20 years’ experience working in academia, government and industry in the US and EU in areas related to food and agriculture production and safety. She has directed research programs at the University of Reading, UK, Ireland’s Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, and as Executive Director of the International Life Sciences Institute, North America. She came to the United States in 2005 to take up a diplomatic posting as Agriculture and Food Attache to the United States. In 2018 she founded her consultancy, Oaklare Strategic Scientific Consulting – a consortium of experienced scientists with scientific, regulatory, and mathematical modelling expertise that develop research and regulatory policy strategies for the food and agriculture industry.
