Current Phytobiomes-related Projects

  • Mining bacterial genomes for genetic factors involved in microbial drought adaptation and microbially-mediated drought tolerance in maize.
  • A holistic approach to understanding drought adaptation in plants, their symbionts, and free-living microbiomes using maize and eastern gamagrass (native perennial grass; temperate relative of maize).
  • Microbe-microbe interactions that drive physical niche selection within a gnotobiotic plant system.
  • Understanding the citrus pathobiome to mitigate Huanglongbing as a disease complex.
  • Microbiome Sciences educational programming, including advancing the Penn State Dual Title PhD in Microbiome Sciences.
